Contact: Cllr Tumi Hawkins
District Councillor, Caldecote, Childerley, Kingston & Toft
Business woman and Chartered Engineer Tumi Hawkins was elected to the District Council in 2012.
Tumi has been successful in bringing superfast broadband to parts of Highfields Caldecote where it previously seemed to have missed or been witheld. The team campaigned for BT to eventually get its act together following the visit to Caldecote by Mr Mike Galvin, Managing Director Network Investment, BT Openreach which took place in November 2013.
The most frequently asked question by residents of Caldecote following the announcement of the proposal to build up to 3500 homes on Bourn Airfield is “why was the site chosen?”
In an address to the cabinet at Council, Tumi registered the collective dismay of Caldecote residents and their objection to the proposal to dump a new village right on their doorstep, flying in the face of the results of the public consultation that the team promoted.
Tumi is working hard to have the voices of local residents heard at council. Highlighting the result of the consultation that showed a high level of objection to the proposal at Bourn Airfield.
