We the undersigned, petition the Mayor to include a bypass for Harston in his transport strategy.
The A10 south is a major radial route into Cambridge, is single carriageway and goes through the centre of Harston, cutting the village in half. It carries more than 16,000 vehicles per 24 hours, including HGVs, and this is increasing (according to the GCP which has insufficient funds for a bypass.) The primary school is on this road and the pollution is likely to be high. There are 994 approved dwelling planning applications along the A 10 corridor, with more pending and at Appeal, also more in North Hertfordshire and they are expected to use the A 10.
Harston is the only village in South Cambridgeshire on a major route without a bypass.
The increasing A10 congestion will make it very difficult to exit Hauxton, and the proposed 2,000 space car park at junction 11 is likely to make the traffic worse.
The congestion will be made much worse when the Foxton level crossing is closed, as traffic then will enter Harston in a steady stream instead of in bunched
