The local Lib Dem team have been contacted by residents about the state of the drains in Oakington and think it is long overdue for the County Council to take action. Whenever there is rain, pools of water build up along Water Lane, at the Crossroads and across the village.
Local campaigner Firouz Thompson said: “Some residents live with large pools of water outside their doorstep with the water from passing vehicles constantly splashing their front door. Parents have to navigate the narrow pavements of Water Lane, steering buggies and small children into oncoming traffic in order to walk around the large puddles and this is not acceptable.”
We call on Cambridgeshire County Council to take proper action and provide Oakington with a permanent solution. Just coming to flush through the drains is clearly not addressing the problem.
