“I want to take the fight for more GPs and Dentist appointments directly to Government. Please sign the petition below to join the campaign to get a better deal for our vital health services for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire.”

Ian Sollom

To the Secretary of State for Health:

The national shortage of GPs and dental appointments is felt particularly acutely in the new constituency of St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, where rapid growth is exacerbating the problems of GP and dentist scarcity.

St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire contains new developments (approved or underway) adding approximately 20,000 homes, with the potential for significantly more to be added with plans for development around the new East West Rail line and the announcement of a Cambridge development corporation.

The damage from poor provision of primary care services is felt not just by the patients whose treatment is delayed, but also in local hospitals and emergency services that pick up the pieces.

We, the undersigned, therefore urge you to:

  • Formally prioritise areas of high growth such as St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire for newly qualified GPs.

  • Accelerate plans for new health services for new and existing communities.

  • Fix the NHS dental services contract to urgently deliver more NHS dental appointments where the population is growing.

We urgently need more GPs and Dentists!
